Made for Scaffold Gallery's Empty Vessels exhibition (Manchester 2018), Hiatus comprises two weathered railway sleepers, placed in such a way as to appear to be one piece. As the viewer moves around the work, however, a gap opens between the two elements, a fraught space of tense dynamic interrelation.
